Sexual presence: Toward a model inspired by evolutionary psychology

چکیده
Presence is a phenomenon widely studied by different scientific disciplines. It can be defined as the feeling of being immersed in a reality generated by a range of simulation and immersive technologies, like virtual reality (VR) and related technologies. In this paper we explore a particular variety of this feeling, namely sexual presence, using evolutionary psychology as a theoretical framework. We translate differences between women and men in sexual imagery and in sexual behaviour into a sexual presence model, introducing proto, core and extended sexual presence as conceptual layers explaining presence. Our aim is to give an evolutionary interpretation of sexual presence, in light of recent findings, and to provide some new ideas for future studies. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Sex differences in attitudes toward partner infidelity.
Sex differences in reactions to partner infidelity have often been studied by comparing emotional reactions to scenarios of sexual versus emotional infidelity. Men, relative to women, tend to react with more distress to partner sexual infidelity than to emotional infidelity. Evolutionary theorists interpret this difference as evidence of sexually dimorphic selection pressures. In contrast, focu...
متن کاملShuffled Frog-Leaping Programming for Solving Regression Problems
There are various automatic programming models inspired by evolutionary computation techniques. Due to the importance of devising an automatic mechanism to explore the complicated search space of mathematical problems where numerical methods fails, evolutionary computations are widely studied and applied to solve real world problems. One of the famous algorithm in optimization problem is shuffl...

Abstract: Innovations, commercialized by new or old established firms, located at the core of industrial renewal process. The innovation concept has suffered transformations, along with the evolution of the models that try to explain and understand the innovation process. The innovative process corresponds to all activities that generate technological changes and the dynamic interaction between...
متن کاملAre men really more ‘oriented’ toward short-term mating than women? A critical review of theory and research
According to Sexual Strategies Theory (D.M. Buss and D.P. Schmitt 1993), both men and women possess psychological adaptations for short-term mating. However, men may possess three adaptations that make it seem as though they are generally more ‘oriented’ toward short-term mating than women: (1) Men possess greater desire for short-term sexual relationships than women; (2) Men prefer larger numb...
